ConversionofMethanolUsingModifiedH-MORZeoliteCatalystsDOI: 10.1016/S1872-2067(10)60187-8, PP. 412-417 Keywords: methanol,conversion,H-MOR,halogenation,hydrohalogenation Abstract: ?Theconversionofmethanolwascarriedoutovervariousmordenitezeolitecatalyststoevaluatetheircatalyticperformance.Apost-preparationtreatmentoftheH-MORcatalystbyhalogenationwithNH4ClorNH4FandbyhydrohalogenationwithHClorHFwascarriedoutanditseffectonmethanolconversionreactionsat100–300°Cinacontinuousflowreactorwasinvestigated.Theas-synthesizedH-mordenite(H-MOR)isgenerallymoreactiveduringdimethylether(DME)productionthantheNH4-MORandNa-MOR.FluorinatedtreatmentwithHForNH4FsignificantlyimprovedthecatalyticactivityduringmethanolconversionandtheformationofDMEincomparisontochlorinatedtreatmentswithHClorNH4Cl.ThisisprincipallyattributedtothehigherSi/Alratioandanincreaseinthenumberofacidsitesandtheirstrength.HalogenationtreatmentwiththeacidsofbothF–orCl–gavethehighestconversionactivityforDMEproductioncomparedtohalogenationtreatmentswiththesaltsofthesamehalogens.Zeolitedealuminationbytheacidswasmoreprofoundthanthatbythehalogenionsalts,whichresultedinadecreaseinthecrystallinityandcrystallitesizesofthezeolite.
