EDUCACIóN ECONóMICA EN LA ESCUELA: HACIA UNA PROPUESTA DE INTERVENCIóN Economic education in the school: toward a proposal of intervention

En este artículo se pretende revisar los aspectos críticos y desafíos que es necesario considerar para plantear una propuesta de educación económica que permita, desde la ense anza básica, contribuir a la alfabetización económica de los ni os e impactar además en sus familias mediante procesos de transmisión intergeneracional. Por esta razón, intentaremos dilucidar tres preguntas claves: 1) Cuál es la edad óptima para introducir la formación económica en el currículum? 2) Qué influencia ejercen la familia y los medios de comunicación en la adquisición temprana de patrones de consumo y de relación con el dinero en la infancia? 3) Cuáles son las variables que deben ser consideradas en el dise o de intervenciones educativas orientadas a la educación económica en la escuela? Finalizaremos con la descripción de nuestro programa “Yo y la Economía”, que pretende articular el currículum vigente con el logro de mayores niveles de alfabetización económica en los ni os This paper pretends to review critical aspects and challenges that is necessary to consider to show a proposal of economic education which allow, since elementary school, to contribute to the economic literacy of the kids and to impact in their families through process of intergenerational transmission. For that reason, we will try to show three key questions: 1) Which is the best age to introduce the economical information in the curriculum? 2) What influence do family and mass media exert in the early acquisition of patterns of consumption and in the relation with the money in the childhood? 3) Which are the variables to should be consider in educative interventions designs oriented to economic education in the school? We will end with the description of our program “Me and the Economics”, that pretends to articulate the effective curriculum with the profit’s highest economic literacy levels in children
