ESTUDIO DE PERSPECTIVA DE GéNERO EN ESTUDIANTES Y DOCENTES DE LA UNIVERSIDAD AUSTRAL DE CHILE Study of gender perspective in students and teachers from Universidad Austral de Chile

Reportamos los resultados de un estudio descriptivo exploratorio sobre concepto y perspectiva de género en estudiantes y docentes de la Universidad Austral de Chile. Se utiliza una aproximación metodológica cuantitativa y cualitativa para caracterizar comportamientos y explicar tendencias. Entrevistas individuales estructuradas en dos dimensiones: conocimiento y opinión fueron realizadas a 252 estudiantes. El trabajo de campo consideró 11 grupos focales con estudiantes nuevos y antiguos y directivos de escuelas. Los resultados muestran una posición indefinida con respecto a conocimiento y opinión en estudiantes nuevos y antiguos y, al mismo tiempo, una identificación con posturas tradicionales de género en estudiantes y docentes. Se concluye que la universidad no incorpora la perspectiva de género en sus procesos educativos y, como consecuencia, reproduce y legitima la socialización tradicional en su visión sobre el género We report the results of a descriptive exploratory study of the perception of new and senior students and teachers of Universidad Austral de Chile, with regards to the concept and perspective of gender. A quantitative and qualitative approach to characterize and to explain the behavior and observed tendencies. Individual interviews structured in two dimensions, knowledge and opinion, were done to 252 students. The qualitative fieldwork was carried out with eleven focus groups of students and schools directors. The results show an undefined position with respect to knowledge and opinion in new and senior students and a traditional behavior of gender in students and school directors. This allows to infer that the university does not provide gender orientation in educative process and reproduces and legitimizes the traditional socialization of gender
