Application Domain Name-Based Analysis

Information about the problem domain of the software and the solution it implements is often embedded by developers in comments and identifiers. When using software developed by others or when are new to a project, programmers know little about how domain information is reflected in the source code. In the paper, the way to establish a commonly used domain vocabulary automatically is presented. Two domains have been selected: application servers and web frameworks. In the paper we are also interested in complexity of selected software products followed by their complexity of comprehension. From the point of view of a new software product developers could arise question: “What kind of word class is usually used for particular type of identifiers?” This paper presents measurement on selected software products JBoss, JOnAS, GlassFish, Tapestry, Google Web Toolkit and Echo2.
