"Los Cuentos de Canterbury" revisitados: Versiones y traducciones de finales del siglo XVIII y principios del siglo XIX

This article focuses on diverse rereadings of The Canterbury Tales during the end of the eighteenth and the beginning of the nineteenth century which occurred successively in various European countries. Firstly, some original English Canterbuy Tales will be examined; secondly, their presence in the Bibliothèque Britannique will be analysed; and finally, the article will consider in detail the translations of three of the original texts published in 1808 by Pedro María de Olive in Minerva o El Revisor general, underlying those aspects which reveal the distance between the source and the target cultures.
