St enie BDNF w surowicy a nasilenie objawów depresjiKeywords: brain-derived neurotrophic factor , BDNF , depression , Hamilton Depression Scale Abstract: Aim of the study was studying of connection betweenserum BDNF – brain derived neurotrophic factor level –in severely depressed patients, and severity of symptomsin depression.Material and methods: In studies took part 45 womenhospitalized with the diagnosis of depressive episode incourse of unipolar or bipolar disorder. Severity of depressionwas assessed with Hamilton Rating Scale forDepression (HAM-D). Serum BDNF was assayed withsandwich ELISA method using Quantikine HumanBDNF Immunoassay (R&D Systems).Results:We found statistically significant negative correlationbetween serum BDNF levels in severe depressionand severity of depression (measured with HAM-D).Statistical significance concerns the general assessment,symptoms of cluster II (depression related anxiety andinsomnia) and such symptoms as anxiety psychic,insight.Conclusions: Our results suggest correlation betweenBDNF serum level and severity of psychopathologicalsigns in depression.
