Idiopathic basal ganglia calcification (Fahr’s syndrome)causes dementia. However, various forms of cognitiveimpairment and psychopathological symptoms aredescribed in the literature and occur in practice. In thepaper, a 68-year old female patient with Fahr’s syndromeis described. The process of medical and psychologicaldiagnosis and methods of therapy are presented.The variety of clinical symptoms in Fahr’s syndromeshould make us more careful in medical examination.Assessment of the neuropsychological state of thesepatients should be a routine examination, useful for thelong-term outcome.
