USO DE SISTEMAS DE INFORMA O EM INDúSTRIAS: UM ESTUDO DA INFORMATIZA O EM EMPRESAS NO SETOR BRASILEIRO DE BENS DE CAPITAL MEC NICOS USE OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS IN MANUFACTURING: A STUDY ABOUT THE INFORMATIZATION OF BRAZILIAN ENTERPRISES IN THE MECHANICAL CAPITAL GOODS INDUSTRY

O uso dos Sistemas de Informa o (SI) e da tecnologia de informa o (TI) pelas organiza es de todos os setores e portes, desde que adequadamente combinados às estratégias e à cultura empresarial, tornou-se importante fator para a obten o de competitividade. Assim, a avalia o da correta aplica o dos recursos de TI tem sido uma preocupa o constante para as empresas dos diversos setores e portes. Trabalhos que analisem o uso da TI em empresas, especialmente de pequeno e médio porte, s o assim de grande valia para que as empresas usuárias os utilizem como benchmarking para seus processos de informatiza o e de referência para a tomada de decis es sobre o uso adequado da TI de gest o e de produ o nessas empresas. Este trabalho tem como objetivo o estudo de aspectos envolvidos no uso da TI em empresas industriais de bens de capital mecanicos. A pesquisa utilizou questionário enviado a empresas do setor, contemplando fatores ligados à informatiza o em empresas industriais. Entre os principais resultados, verificou-se que as empresas utilizam proporcionalmente bem mais os sistemas de gest o e administra o do que os sistemas de produ o e projetos. Dentre os subsetores estudados, o de máquinas-ferramenta destacou-se nas atividades apoiadas pela TI e na extens o de seu uso. The use of information systems (IS) and information technology (IT), once suitably aligned to corporate culture and strategies, has become an important factor for achieving a competitive edge in organizations. Thus, research papers that analyze the use of IT by companies of all sizes, but particularly small and mid-size ones, are important tools to be used as benchmarking of information technology processes and a guideline for decision making concerning the use of IT for management and the operation of such companies. This study has the objective of understanding the issues involved in the use of IT in organizations from the mechanics capital goods sector. A survey was sent to the companies, including questions about the computerization of that industry. The questionnaire was answered by 80 companies, a sample composed mainly of micro and small companies. Among the major results, it was found that such companies use IT in a greater scale for management than for their operation and projects. Among the studied segments, tool machinery was the one that was more thoroughly supported by IT in its activities.
