Territorio, historia e identidad: Sus El Aksa o Sáhara Occidental

After passing the natural walls that form the ridges of the Atlas and the Anti Atlas, the Sahara Atlantic plains constitute a peripheral region of Morocco. This region has evolved integrated into the Moroccan Administration since 1976, with a special tax and budget systems, with economic privileges for the indigenous population, leading to major changes in economic and demographic structure due to the intervention of state and private operators and the empowerment by the state of an immigration policy counteracting the low population density aggravated by the events occurring during the decolonization process. A peripheral area in which the identity of the Sahrawi people is linked to territorial space and created based on memories and oblivion.
