Epicuro e o tema da amizade: a philía vinculada ao ér s da tradi o e ao êthos cívico da pólisKeywords: friendship , interest , reciprocity , selfishness , utility Abstract: Central to the so-called ethical doctrine of Epicurus, the theme of friendship in this paper is analyzed under three aspects: a) in regards to its link to the traditional principles (the so-called golden rule) with which several cultures have sought to govern friendly relations; b) how Epicurus, in a sense different from that of Plato’s Academy took to the Garden the practice of philía as a test for reconstituting the pólis; c) how the concept of utility (the opheleía) is linked to interest and reciprocity.
