Sur la trace européenne du chantre de Thrace

Au vingtième siècle, malgré la progressive désaffection de la poésie pour la mythologie, Orphée laisse encore ses empreintes. Certes, son chant persiste, en fran ais, allemand et suédois, mais sa puissance faiblit : certains auteurs perdent la trace d’Orphée, choisissent de suivre celle d’Eurydice ou bien simplement décident de poursuivre un autre chemin. Mythe des pouvoirs du verbe poétique, Orphée symbolise une conception de l’écriture en pleine évolution, car si le chant n’opère plus, que reste-t-il ? In European poetry of the twentieth century, we can always find traces of the myth of Orpheus. His song still persists here, in French, German and Swedish, but it is not as forceful as it was before: many poets have lost his track, choose to follow Eurydice’s, or simply decide to follow another path. A myth of the power of words and of the poet, Orpheus symbolises a new conception of writing, because, if his song doesn’t work anymore, what is left?
