La Enfermería en la Salud Pública Cubana Nursing in the Cuban public health

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo para analizar el desarrollo de la Enfermería en la Salud Pública Cubana durante los 50 a os de la Revolución. Se utilizaron los métodos teóricos como el análisis, la síntesis y el histórico-lógico. Se concluye que el desarrollo de la Enfermería Cubana en el Sistema Nacional de Salud, le ha permitido ubicarse y avanzar como miembro de los equipos de salud para el intercambio interdisplinario y a su vez, un liderazgo que la hace paradigmática en América Latina y el mundo. La asistencia, la administración y la docencia en enfermería a partir del a o 59 han tenido un perfeccionamiento creciente, no así la investigación, por lo que su integración y desarrollo completaría un modelo de atención ejemplar para el país. A descriptive study was conducted to analyze the development of nursing in the Cuban public health in the last 50 years of revolution. Theoretical methods like analysis, synthesis and historical/logical procedure were applied. It was concluded that the development of the Cuban nursing in the national healthcare system has allowed this discipline to advance as a member of health teams for interdisciplinary exchange and, at the same time, to take a leading position that makes it paradigmatic in Latin America and worldwide. Assistance, management and teaching in the sphere of nursing have experienced an increasing improvement since 1959; however, the situation has not been the same in research. Therefore, the integration and development of research in this field would complete an exemplary model of care for the country.
