Se realizó una revisión actualizada acerca de la enfermedad de von Recklinghausen. Se exponen las posibles teorías del desarrollo de los tumores de las vaínas nerviosas, características de la enfermedad. También se dan a conocer las diversas formas genéticas de la neurofibromatosis tipo I y su relación con la variante de neurofibromatosis espinal familiar. La función de la imagenología, fundamentalmente la resonancia magnética nuclear, en el diagnóstico temprano de los neurofibromas espinales y las características de ellos bien identificadas. An updated review on von Recklinghausen's disease was made. The possible theories of the development of tumors of the nervous sheats, which are characteristic of the disease, were exposed. The diverse genetical forms of neurofibromatosis type 1 and its relation to the variant of familial spinal neurofibromatosis were made known. The imaging function, mainly magnetic resonance imaging, in the early diagnosis of the spinal neurofibromas and their characteristics were well identified.
