Occurring in the first quarter of the twentieth century, the Balkan Wars and the First World War I revealed a large number of orphans and vulnerable children and made it obligatory to take urgent measures about these children. This with need darüleytamlar was formed. These institutions both helped orphans and vulnerable children to get cared and made it possible for theme receive a good education. And it was aimed to make a specialized branch of art, especially for children to ensure their livelihood theme win in this way was to be guaranteed. Paralel to this idea industry and agriculture for the collection a large number of darüleytam students were sent sent to Germany to get an education for industry and agriculture. At one point the number of children in Darüleytamlar increased to fifteeen-twenty thousands. But the economic difficulties caused by the war, made the feeding and direction of this number of children difficult. Especially some of the province darüleytams were very adversely affected and had to be closed. After a while, province darüeytams were liquidated and some of these children were delivered to their families while some others were transferred to stanbul.This study aims to emphasize the foundation, actions and difficulties of Daruleytams which the Otoman State founded in order to protect and educate the orphans primariliy the martyr children.
