Abstract:

The headwaters of the Javorná River is situated in the northern part of the Jeseníky Landscape Protected Area (N Moravia), north of the Rejvíz National Nature Reserve. A population of the endemic Vestia ranojevici moravica was found in this locality in 1968, cca 70 km far from its known distribution range in the N Moravia. During the recent inventory of this site 48 mollusc species were found including four rare dendrophilous clausilids: Bulgarica cana, Vestia ranojevici moravica, Cochlodina orthostoma and Clausilia cruciata. The beech and scree forests of this locality represent the most preserved malacological site in the Hruby Jeseník Mts which should be strongly protected.
