Abstract: The article elaborates esthetics and poetics of K. Leontyev, in particular the ways the priority of esthetics, new for the literature of 1860 70s, being implemented in his fiction. Leontyev’s attitude is considered within the context of religious philosophy, according to F. Dostoevsky and P. Florensky’s conception of the beauty. “Esthetic formalism” of Leontyev is interpreted with his providential world outlook taken into account.
