Crisis hipertensivas: actualización terapéutica. Hypertensive crises: therapeutic update.

En los últimos a os, se han producido adelantos en el tratamiento de las crisis hipertensivas, con cambios significativos de su enfoque terapéutico. Se realiza una breve revisión de este tema, con hincapié en las recomendaciones del Sixth Report del Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation and Treatment of High Blood Pressure. Se discute el uso de la nifedipina y se ofrece una actualización de los fármacos de más reciente utilización en las emergencias hipertensivas (esmolol, nicardipino y fenoldopam). During the last years, there have been advances in the treatment of hypertensive crises with significant changes of their therapeutic approach. A brief review on this topic is made, giving emphasis to the recommendations of the Sixth Report of the Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation and Treatment of High Blood Pressure. The use of nifedipine is discussed and an update of the most recently used drugs in hypertensive emergencies (esmolol, nicardipine and phenoldopam) is included.
