%X En los 迆ltimos a os, se han producido adelantos en el tratamiento de las crisis hipertensivas, con cambios significativos de su enfoque terap谷utico. Se realiza una breve revisi車n de este tema, con hincapi谷 en las recomendaciones del Sixth Report del Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation and Treatment of High Blood Pressure. Se discute el uso de la nifedipina y se ofrece una actualizaci車n de los f芍rmacos de m芍s reciente utilizaci車n en las emergencias hipertensivas (esmolol, nicardipino y fenoldopam). During the last years, there have been advances in the treatment of hypertensive crises with significant changes of their therapeutic approach. A brief review on this topic is made, giving emphasis to the recommendations of the Sixth Report of the Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation and Treatment of High Blood Pressure. The use of nifedipine is discussed and an update of the most recently used drugs in hypertensive emergencies (esmolol, nicardipine and phenoldopam) is included.
