The paper is divided into three interrelated parts. The third part of the paper makes a methodological contribution to the issues under scrutiny, explaining the etymology of the word 'mathematics,' describing various eras and stages in its development, and clarifying the essence, development, and focus of mathematics as a science. By and large, the paper mainly aims to present theoretical starting points of the chosen issues, often providing juxtapositions of noteworthy claims by various personalities in the field.
