Abstract:

We present the findings from data analysis of international study TIMSS, where the Slovak republic participated in four year cycles. We publish the results on students in international comparison; we characterize the trends in overall results and the tendency in content areas on national level. We present the findings on overall results the Grade 8 students (Grade 8 on elementary school and Grade 4 on 8 year secondary school), we focus on the result in Mathematics. We analyze the student achievement and the determinates, which can have the influence on the student achievement. We choose the number of book, that the student have at his household and amount of time spent with the reading the books in his free time.V príspevku uvádzame vysledky analyzy dát z medzinárodnej túdie TIMSS, ktorej sa Slovenská republika zú astňuje v tvorro nych cykloch u od roku 1995. Prezentujeme vyskumné zistenia o celkovych vzdelávacích vysledkoch iakov 8. ro níka Z vo vyskumnej doméne matematika v medzinárodnom kontexte a na národnej úrovni z aspektu typu koly.
