Felder’s Learning Style Concept and its Index of Learning Style Questionnaire in the Slovak Conditions

Abstract:

This research study emphasizes the necessity of learningstyle awareness and assessment as a possible way leading ourlearners to their own learning process auto-regulation with an aim todevelop the key competence of life-long learning. It introducesa new learning style concept of R.M. Felder and the concepts it hasoriginated from, Kolb’s experiential learning theory and Myers-Briggs′ learning type model. It offers the first results ofpsychometrical properties (reliability in the sense of stability intime) of Felder’s Index of Learning Styles questionnaire (used in thetext as ILS). Statistical analysis proved not sufficiently significantcorrelations in the Slovak conditions.
