Abstract: his paper presents reflections on the continuing education of mathemat- ics teachers, raised in the development of a research project (Camelo, Torres and Sanchez, 2008), where a group of teachers who interacted under the focus of collaborative work (Fiorentini y Nacarato, 2005), design and implementation research stage (Skovsmose, 2000) from the perspective of Critical Mathematics Education. For such a design and implementation are considered: a broad contextualization of students, which included the use of social mapping tools and implementation of mathematical model- ing (Araújo, 2009), as a proposal that allows undermine, interdisciplinary situations, the underlying mathematical structures.
