La storia di quattro reduci: a da (Sete) di Andrej Gelasimov

Gelasimov’s novel was analysed by Remizova (2003) as a “Study of a Trauma”. Several themes of the povest’ (childhood, invisibility of the traumatic event, social vs. individual mediated responses to trauma) are taken into account, based on the hypothesis that the keywords of the traumatic experience described in Gelasimov’s “report” on the Chechen War are herein emphasized, revealing one of the main levels of meaning in the narration. Against this background Gelasimov’s povest’ Zhahda proves its present historical and literary value.
