%X Gelasimov¡¯s novel was analysed by Remizova (2003) as a ¡°Study of a Trauma¡±. Several themes of the povest¡¯ (childhood, invisibility of the traumatic event, social vs. individual mediated responses to trauma) are taken into account, based on the hypothesis that the keywords of the traumatic experience described in Gelasimov¡¯s ¡°report¡± on the Chechen War are herein emphasized, revealing one of the main levels of meaning in the narration. Against this background Gelasimov¡¯s povest¡¯ Zhahda proves its present historical and literary value.
