Minimizing Inter Channel Attacks in WDM Optical NetworkDOI: 10.7763/ijfcc.2013.v2.109 Keywords: Optical network security , interchannelattacks , eavesdropping , jamming , lightpath routing. Abstract: Wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) opticalnetworks provide higher data rate and stronger security thanmany other transport technologies. Yet optical networks arenot completely immune to security treats, among which areinterchannel attacks by exploiting the crosstalk effects, including eavesdropping and jamming. In this paper, wedevelop a novel routing algorithm to minimize lightpathoverlapping thus minimize the damage caused by aninterchannel attack. The algorithm has a running time that isexponential only to the number of existing lightpaths butpolynomial to the network size.
