Der Artikel thematisiert die biografische Dimension von Politisierungsprozessen und ihre Bedeutung für eine Kontinuit t politischen Handelns. Er basiert auf einer Einzelfallstudie, die im Rahmen der Sekund ranalyse von Interviews eines Oral-History-Projekts der 1980er Jahre entstand. Die erneute Rekonstruktion der Fallgeschichte eines Arbeiters, der w hrend des Nationalsozialismus entschied, sich dem Kriegsdienst durch Flucht zu entziehen, zeigt das enge Verwobensein von biografisch entstandenen Ver nderungswünschen und institutionalisierten politischen Deutungs- und Handlungsmustern. Phasen u erst eingeschr nkter Handlungsspielr ume, wie sie gerade w hrend des Nationalsozialismus entstanden, konnten durch biografische Lernprozesse bearbeitet oder durch biografische Krisenbearbeitung überbrückt werden, solange die Hoffnung zukünftiger Emanzipation und sozialer Integration bestand. In der Nachkriegszeit führte das Wegfallen dieser Perspektive dazu, dass die Gestalt der biografischen Erfahrungen die politische Handlungsf higkeit begrenzte. It is based on a single case study which was developed within an oral history project in the 1980s. A new reconstruction of a worker's narrative about his refusal to serve in the army and subsequent flight during the National-Socialist period shows how personal desires for change and institutionalized political patterns of interpretation and action are intertwined. The protagonist could cope with times of extremely restricted latitude for action, as was the case in the Nazi era, acquiring personal learning or crisis management skills as long as there was hope for future emancipation and social integration. In the postwar period the dissipation of this perspective lead to a reduction in his individual ability to take political action.
