MULTISEMIOSIS Y LINGüíSTICA DE CORPUS: ARTEFACTOS (MULTI)SEMIóTICOS EN LOS TEXTOS DE SEIS DISCIPLINAS EN EL CORPUS PUCV-2010 MULTISEMIOSIS AND CORPUS LINGUISTICS: MULTISEMIOTIC ARTIFACTS IN THE TEXTS OF SIX DISCIPLINES IN THE ACADEMIC PUCV-2010 CORPUS

Desde los estudios estrictamente lingüísticos, la caracterización de los textos escritos especializados desde su realidad multisemiótica ha sido escasa o casi nula. No son abundantes las investigaciones, basadas en corpus, que aborden la descripción de artefactos tales como fórmulas, gráficos, tablas y diagramas así como de sus disposiciones en la página escrita en textos académicos. En este contexto, el objetivo de esta investigación es identificar, describir y cuantificar la ocurrencia de los artefactos (multi)semióticos presentes en una muestra de textos (1.043) en seis disciplinas científicas del Corpus Académico PUCV-2010. El corpus fue recolectado en doce programas de doctorado en seis universidades chilenas y se compone de los materiales de lectura que leen los alumnos con la excepción de los que contempla la tesis de grado (3.160 textos escritos en las disciplinas de: Física, Química, Biotecnología, Historia, Literatura y Lingüística). Como parte de los resultados, se identifican y definen nueve artefactos multisemióticos, basados en cuatro sistemas semióticos interactivos: verbal, matemático, gráfico y tipográfico. Emergen interesantes diferencias entre los textos de las Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades y los de las Ciencias Básicas, debido a los prototipos de artefactos caracterizadores y su ocurrencia a través de las disciplinas. From strictly linguistic studies, the characterization of multisemiotic written specialized texts has been scarce or almost null. Not many corpus-based studies focus on the description of graphs, tables, and diagrams, as well as their layouts, as part of academic texts. The objective of this study is to identify, describe and quantify the occurrence of (multi)semiotic artifacts which are present in a sample of texts (1.043) belonging to the PUCV-2010 Academic Corpus. The corpus was collected in twelve PhD programmes in six Chilean universities and comprises all the documents students are given to read during their formal curricula, with the exception of those included in the final doctoral research (3,160 written texts, which are distributed among Physics, Chemistry, Biotechnology, History, Literature, and Linguistics). As part of the results, nine artifacts were identified and defined, based on the distinction of four semiotic interacting systems: verbal, graphical, mathematical, and typographical.
