Implementation of SigComp in heterogeneous networks
|
Abstract:
As a standard signaling protocol, SIP (session initiation protocol) could provide a strong mobility support to some applications in heterogeneous networks. Nevertheless, SIP suffers from an undesirable delay for some cases, which is detrimental to real-time applications such as VoIP (voice over IP) requiring stringent quality of service. This paper proposed a heterogeneous network framework based-SigComp (signaling compression), in which all generated signaling messages were transmitted after compressed. It was evaluated under NS2. Simulation results illustrate with proposed framework the propagation latency and the overhead are significantly decreased 20%, 30% respectively.
