Reconstructing the Decomposed XML Document Fragments Stored in Relational Databases

Firstly,an overview of all approaches storing XML documents based on relational databases is given.Secondly,the principle of decomposing XML documents into relational storage,which is proposed in the X-RESTORE,is introduced.Thirdly,evaluation modes for XML queries are analyzed.Finally,we show how to reconstruct the XML document fragments of query results based on X-RESTORE,and give a reconstructing algorithm that is proved to be very efficient by cost analysis and experiment.So,the X-RESTORE can support all evaluation modes of XML queries effectively and efficiently.
