ON OF TEXTURAL YBa_2Cu_3O_(7-x) WITH NOMINAL COMPOSITION (123+211) BY LIQUID PHASE SINTERING

Abstract:
To eliminate the deposition along BaCuO_2 grain boundaries, the 211 (Y_2Ba_2CuO_5) powder was properly doped to the 123 (YBa_2Cu_3O_(7-x) compounds. Sufficient time for mass transfer along a-b plane was allowed by lowering the cooling rate nearby the temperature of peritectic transformation. Since the plane a-b is the fastest growing one, the length of grains is controlled by the rate of mass transfer. XRD, SEM and EDXA analyses revealed that the grains are strip-shaped, their orientation is perpendicular to c-axis and par- allel to surface a-b plane. Thus, the compound 123 (YBa_2Cu_3O_(7-x) has a strong textural structure.
