Modeling decay of chloramines residuals by copper pipe distribution test loop system
|
Abstract:
Copper pipe distribution test loop system was employed to investigate the chloramines decay processes, and first order kinetic model was used to fit experimental results. The effects of different factors, including pH, initial chloramines concentration and flow rate, on chloramines decay rates were investigated. pH shows impact on chloramines decay, and the lower pH leads to higher chloramines decaying rates and more significant Cu release from pipelines. Chloramines decay obviously accelerates at higher initial chloramines concentration and more Cu release is accordingly observed. Flow rates have no obvious effects on chloramines decay. First order kinetic model fit well with chloramines decay processes under different conditions, which could be valuable for chloramine residuals prediction in engineering practice.
