A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON CARCINOGENIC ACTIVITY OF PBNA AND PANA IN UNILATERALLY NEPHRECTOMIZED TA-l MICE
|
Abstract:
Repeated subcutaneous injections of DMSO-dissolved technical or chemically pure PBNA and its corresponding isomer PANA all induced in male young adult TA-1 mice significantly higher incidence of malignancy than controls. Total doses given amounted to 304-328mg. At the end of the 9th month malignant tumors were induced in all of four groups. Incidence of hemangiosarcoma of the kidney was as follows: nephrectomy + technical PBNA: 76.2%; nephrectomy+pure PBNA: 47.1%; nephrectomy+technical PANA: 100%; nephrectomy+pure PANA:75%. More pulmonary carcinoma were induced in both PBNA groups than in PANA groups. Technical PBNA in DMSO injected repeatedly to TA-1 mice induced pulmonary carcinoma in 21.1% of mice. Technical PANA induced hemangiosarcoma of the kidney in 36.8% of mice. It was shown that both technical PBNA (neoZone D) and technical PANA (neozone A) were carcinogenic to TA-1 mice with different orgnotropism while previous unilateral nephrectomy increased the susceptibility of the another kidney to the induction of hemangiosacoma.
