APPLICATION OF MASS-ACTION MODEL FOR DESCRIBING THE ABSORPTION CHARACTERISTICS OF HEAVY METALS ON SOILS
|
Abstract:
A mass-action model used to describe adsorption at the solid/solution interface was derived from the surface chemical reaction and equilibrium principles:The model has the characteristics of both langmiur and Freundlich equations. Ka is equilibrium constant of adsorption reaction and could be regarded as the intensive index of the adsorption; n indicates the number of adsorbed molecules or ions covering each active site on the surface , it is helpful to decide the mechanism of reaction; M is refereed to as the sum total of active sites on the surface of adsorbent; the adsorption capacity is determined by both M and n concurrently. The model was applied to the adsorption of Cu and Zn on red soil,Yellow-brown soil and grey chao soil.
