Study on the extraction and purification of microcystins
|
Abstract:
The methods for extracting and purifying microcystin (MCs) in dry cyanobacterial cells taken from Dianchi Lake, Yunnan Province, were studied in this paper. 40% methanol-water solution was found to be an optimum solution for effectively extracting MC-RR and MC-LR from cyanobacterial cells among different ratios of methanol when the concentration of dry cyanobacterial cells was 20g·L-1. After the extraction solution of 40% methanol containing MCs was passed through a cartridge (Waters, OASIS~(TM) HLB Cartridge), MCs were purified by the elution with 70% methanol, and 7.3% and 3.5% purities of MC-RR and MC-LR were obtained. By collecting the achromatic fraction of the elution after blue-green and orange-yellow color elution, MC-RR and MC-LR with the purities of 28.6% and 12.9% were obtained.
