Preliminary Evaluation of the Thromboresistance of ZnO Nanoparticles
|
Abstract:
Evaluation of antithrombogenicity of ZnO nanoparticles was carried out based on the measurements of in vitro kinetic clotting time. The average size of the ZnO nanoparticles was 10~30 nm. The research was divided into the control group (1 ml of whole blood), the non-nanoparticles group (1 ml of whole blood, including 0.4 ml of the stirred plasma), the ZnO group (1 ml of whole blood, including 0.4 ml of the stirred plasma and 1 mg of ZnO nanoparticles) and the Fe group (1 ml of whole blood, including 0.4 ml of the stirred plasma and 1 mg of Fe nanoparticles). Measurements of clotting time of every group were carried out at 5, 15, 30 and 45 min. The calculated results revealed that the thromboresistant radio was remained at 70% in 45 min in the ZnO nanoparticles group, while the radio dropped to 30% in 15 min in the control group, the non-nanoparticles group and the Fe group. The results predict that the ZnO nanoparticles have excellent thromboresistant property.
