Propagation of a Pulse Through One-dimensional Photonic Crystals Containing Negative Materials

Abstract:
The transmission of pulses through photonic crystals containing negative materials is discussed.Through the numerical analysis of the transmitted electric field,it is foud that the propagation of a Gaussian short-pulse with its carrier frequency lying in the band gap of a photonic crystals containing negative-index materials through the photonic crystals is basically Gaussian distribution,and for the same of short-pulse through the traditional one-dimensional photonic crystals,the transmitted electric field is a distorted spectrum.When the negative-index materials is dispersive,the variance of the phase time versus the carrier frequency of pulse is discussed.
