AN ELECTROCHEMICAL MODEL PROPOSED FOR HOT CORROSION MECHANISMS
|
Abstract:
The widely accepted fluxing model of hot corrosion is briefly described, and limitations of the model are clarified in terms of experimental evidences. On the basis of electrochemical nature of reactions involved in hot corrosion an electrochemical model is preliminarily proposed to elucidate its mechanisms. The rational aspects of the fluxing model as well as the general characteristics existing in high temperature gaseous corrosion and hot corrosion are considered in the electrochemical model. The new model proposed is tenta tively used in the illustration of hot corrosion processes of metals and alloys
