FAILURE ANALYSIS OF TURBINE BLADES FOR A HEAT-POWER PLANT
|
Abstract:
Failure analysis of turbine blades for a heat-power plant of a petrochemical company was conducted by macroscopic and metallographic observations, chemical composition analysis,as well as SEM examination with EDAX analysis. The results showed that the fracture of turbine blades is caused by corrosion fatigue. The pits on the blade induced the initiation of cracks and then facilitate crack propagation at these sites. However the pitting corrosion of the blades was caused by the chloride and sulfur existed in the steam.
