Influence of Seeding Date on Glyrrhiza uralensis Fisch Surviving through Winter and Growth Characteristic of Root System

The experimental research illustrated that the proper seeding date of Glyrrhiza uralensis Fisch is much longer than we expected: setting seeds during late April to early August can help it to pass the winter safely.It is noticeable that nearly 100% of seeds could pass the winter safely when setting seeds during late April to middle May;the cold-tolerance of Glyrrhiza uralensis Fisch when seeded during early June to early August decreased,the survival rate was more than 90% except part plants died in winter.The roots and stems of Glyrrhiza uralensis Fisch seeded in different date all grew normally when they passed through the winter;moreover,the later seeded ones grew faster in root length and root size,their photosynthetic products obviously transferred to root system.
