PRODUCTION OF SINGLE CELL PROTEIN FROM SEA BUCKTHORN FRUIT WASTE WITH A MIXED MICROBIAL CULTURE
|
Abstract:
This paper reports a study on fermentation of single cell protein from seabuckthorn (Hippophae Rhamnoides. Linn) fruit waste that was used as only carbon resource. After a series of screening tests, a MY-931 fungi-yeast culture, favourable to convert SeaBuckthorn fruit waste into single cell protein, was obtained from more than forty microbesincluding fungi, yeast and bacteria. In a typical fermentation, protein content of fermentationproduct arrived at 44.1 %. The fermentation product was safety, non-toxic and could be usedas animal protein feed.
