The key problem in tensile testing for metallic materials is the controlling of stress rate and strain rote. By using transducer and computer technique,a by-pass throttle type electric-hydraulic system with only one throttle valve is presented for controlling both the pressure and the speed in a traditional hydraulic universal testing machine.Its application is successful.The system may serve as a foundation for developing new types of testing machine.
