AN IMPROVED METHOD FOR DATA ANALYSIS OF FLUORESCENCE DECAY MEASUREMENT

Abstract:
By combing the pr.nciples of the methods of moments and Laplace transfo-rms an improved method for data analysis of fluorescence decay curve measured by time-correlated single photon counting technique was presented. This method enables us to analyze the experimental data with an accuracy compared to those of the least squares fitting, but in a less time-consuming manner. This advantage of the presented method has been demonstrated by an analysis of bi-expo-nential fluorescence decay observed in ethanolic solution of Coumarin 102+ DCM as wall as that of Coumarin 102 + PBBO laser dye mixtures. In this paper the correction for instrumental time shift and the integration of truncated data required in Laplace transforms were also discussed.
