STUDIES ON MONOAMINE OXIDASE-B(MAO-B) OF INFERIOR COLLICULUS AND PONS IN RAT
|
Abstract:
The function of auditory subcortical nuclei of vertebrate and their mechanism are rarely exposed. This paper reports a work done for probing the possible action of monoamine neurotransmitter in auditory subcortical nuclei. The work investigated the MAO-B (Monoamine Oxidase E. C. 1.2.3.4) activities of inferior colliculus, pons which is related to auditory activity and whole brain in rat and the change of MAO - B activity by drug. A biochemical method was used in the work. The results indicate that:(1) The average MAO-B activities of inferior colliculus and pons were significantly higher than that of the whole brain.( 2) Medicine Polygonum multiflorum Thunb had a significant inhibitory effect on the MAO - B activities of the inferior colliculus, pons and whole braiaThe result suggested that the MAO-B of inferior colliculus and pons had stronger effect of oxidizing deamination on monoamine than that of the whole brain, the monoamine, therefore, probably as a neurotransmitter of auditory subcortical nuclei took part in the auditory activities.
