STUDIES ON THE GEl. TECHNIQUE FOR GROWING OF LYSOZYME CRYSTALS
|
Abstract:
The gel medium could eliminate or reduce the convection and sedimentation caused by the gravity and it is worthwhile to explore the gel method used for crystal growth of biological macromolecules. Using hanging drop diffustion method, we have grown single large or perfect and highly symmetrical crystals of hen - egg white lysozyme. In the gel medium. MPD in low concentration could inhibit the nucleation in lysozyme crystallization, which is similar to that in solution procedure. The X - ray precession photography showed that the crystals grown in gel could diffract to a higher resolution.
