Abstract:

Using new Ektacytometry. the deformation index of RBCs in a shear flow field of low viscosity were separated into two components, orientation index (DI)oc and small deformation index (DI)d. The difference between (DI)or-r curves of RBCs treated with dextrans of different molecular weights or PVP of molecular weight 4000 and (DI)or-r curve of control RBCs is significant (p<0.01). But using traditional Ektacytometry. no obvious difference between these two can be fownd. These results indicate that the new Ektacytometry is advantogeows to microrheology at molecular level.
