Abstract: objective: to study the oral problems, as well as the individual, environmental, and social factors, that may have an impact on oral health during pregnancy. method: 251 pregnant women were studied, who were treated at the odontology service of the "concepción palacios" maternity hospital in caracas and presented one or more oral injuries. setting: odontology service of the "concepción palacios" maternity hospital, caracas, capital district. results: of the 251 patients studied, 153 (60,96%) presented gingivitis, which was the most frequently found oral injury, followed by 15 cases (5,98%) of unspecified ulcers and in third place 14 cases (5,58%) of gingival enlargement and 14 other cases (5,58%) of subprothesic stomatitis. conclusions: since pregnant women have alterations in their immunological systems and hormonal imbalances, they are prone to suffer from buccal lesions during their pregnancies.
