%0 Journal Article %T Lesiones bucales vistas en la embarazada %A L¨¢rez %A Leira %A Benavides %A Yndira %A Henr¨ªquez %A Yeniz %A Moreno %A Shulanye %J Revista de Obstetricia y Ginecolog¨ªa de Venezuela %D 2005 %I Sociedad de Obstetricia y Ginecolog¨ªa de Venezuela %X objective: to study the oral problems, as well as the individual, environmental, and social factors, that may have an impact on oral health during pregnancy. method: 251 pregnant women were studied, who were treated at the odontology service of the "concepci¨®n palacios" maternity hospital in caracas and presented one or more oral injuries. setting: odontology service of the "concepci¨®n palacios" maternity hospital, caracas, capital district. results: of the 251 patients studied, 153 (60,96%) presented gingivitis, which was the most frequently found oral injury, followed by 15 cases (5,98%) of unspecified ulcers and in third place 14 cases (5,58%) of gingival enlargement and 14 other cases (5,58%) of subprothesic stomatitis. conclusions: since pregnant women have alterations in their immunological systems and hormonal imbalances, they are prone to suffer from buccal lesions during their pregnancies. %K oral injuries %K pregnancy %K gestation. %U http://www.scielo.org.ve/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S0048-77322005000100002&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
