Wetland system relies on renewable energy sources
such as solar and kinetic energy and wetland plants and micro-organisms, which
are the active agents in the treatment process. Wetlands can remove inorganic
nutrients, heavy metals, dissolved organic carbon, particulate organic matter,
and suspended solids from the water column and sediments, as well as play a key
role in supporting food webs and influencing global climate change through
their role in methanogenesis. Using constructed wetla...

The ultrasound-assisted extraction of chlorogenic acid from honeysuckle
was modeled using response surface methodology. A three-level-three-factor
Box–Behnken design was employed to optimize three extraction variables,
including extraction temperature (X 1), ethanol concentration (X 2),
and soak time (X 3), for the achievement of high extraction yield of
the chlorogenic acid. The optimized conditions are extract temperature of 80℃,
ethanol concentration of 70.37%, s...

Spigelian hernia (SH) is an uncommon surgical entity
in children and rare in adults. Due to various reasons, spigelian hernia can
develop through defects in transversus abdominis aponeurosis. Usually spigelian
hernia develops below the arcuate line of Douglus and rarely occurs at higher
level. It poses a diagnostic dilemma for surgeon as there are no specific
symptoms and signs. It comprises about 0.12% of all abdominal wall hernias. The
spigelian hernia has been repaired by both conventional an...

The psychological factors for Breast Cancer BrCa are
very important, as they assist in improving the adaptation of the new situations
they have to deal with. This study is to provide psycho-educational
materials as intervention tools in enhancing coping with the psychosexual
problems faced by Sudanese BrCa women. Study sample of 89
BrCa women were randomly selected to either educational group (n = 30),
intervention group (n = 29), or control group (n = 30). To be eligible for the
study, women we...

The
production technology, structure, electrical conductivity, coefficient of friction,
hardness, strength, and plasticity over a temperature range of 290 - 870 K of laminated copper-carbonic composites for sliding
electrical contacts of current-collecting devices obtained by electron-beam
evaporation and vapor condensation are studied.

The purpose of this
research is to explain how Brazilian higher education becomes a commodity of
global capitalism through a focus on institutional culture change, which
transforms academic independence toward a model of corporate-sponsored applied
research. Brazilian federal universities are invested in S.T.E.M. education and
are instruments in the country’s twenty-first century hegemonic aspirations.
This national development strategy has ramifications for the humanities, fine
arts, and social...

The major cause of poor
livestock productivity in tropical regions of the world is inadequate nutrition.
The shortage of feed in most developing countries and the increasing cost of
feed constituents entail that there is a call for to improvement feed
utilization strategies in developing countries. Animal feeds and feeding
practices can be enhanced by biotechnology to develop better animal nutrition
packages in smallholder and commercial production systems as well as to reduce
environmental wast...

This review of literature applied a comprehensive
approach to corroborate and/or contradict the
findings of previous research that has been disseminated to education practitioners.
Disengagement from school amongst 14 - 16 year olds has become a
recurrent phenomenon, thus identifying and implementing timely interventions to
address it should be a key aim for schools. This paper therefore
examines previous literature on the subject matter. It investigates factors
that could help to break down the...

A fire resistant metakaolin geopolymer is developed
and its performance under thermal loading is examined in this paper. The
geopolymer was prepared by mixing metakaolin, doped with solid SiO 2,
with a highly alkaline potassium hydroxide aqueous phase in order to create a
paste that was subsequently cured at 70℃ for a certain period
of time. The addition of solid SiO 2 was important in order the
geopolymer developed to be fire resistant for temperatures up to 1350℃. The mecha...

Metronidazole is a derivative of benzimidazole. It
is being used widely for the treatment of amoebiasis. An efficient, simple and
least time consuming spectrophotometric method for the assay of metronidazole
has been developed. Comparison of assay of three different brands of metroni-da- zole has also been available in public medical stores of Karachi, Pakistan. The assay is based on
the ultraviolet UV absorbance maxima at about 340 nm wavelength of
metronidazole using water as solvent. A sample...
