This study investigated job satisfaction and organisational commitment
among library staff in private universities in Ogun State, Nigeria. The survey
research design was used for the study. Study population consisted of 162
library personnel in seven private university libraries. Sampling was
enumerative as all members of the population were used for the study. A
questionnaire titled “Job Satisfaction and Organisational Commitment (JSOC)”
was used for data collection. Data collected were analysed using frequency and
percentage counts. Library personnel were found to be generally satisfied with
their jobs even though they faced some constraints. They were also found to be
committed to their organisations, although the level of job satisfaction was
found to be higher than organisational commitment. Based on the findings,
recommendations were made.
