Abstract:

This paper studies the influence of entrepreneurship education on students’ entrepreneurial abilities from the perspective of social network. In four college students’ entrepreneurship case studies from one university, we adopted methodological triangulation and multiple methods to guarantee the reliability and validity of the research. We proposed that courses and projects in entrepreneurship education formed social network among mentors, monitors, and students, in which knowledge could flow frequently. We then discussed the influence of projects pattern, mentor pattern, and monitors pattern on college students’ entrepreneurial abilities respectively, by analyzing the structure and ties of the social network. This research contributed to social network theory and entrepreneurship education both theoretically and practically.

Cuadernos de Administración , 2011,
Abstract: in order to estimate the potential of education for entrepreneurship, a fresh approach is needed which will generate the capacities required by the individual to take decisions in entrepreneurial actions. from this point of view, the authors discuss the variables which will have a significant effect on a system and holistic alternative such as that which they propose. they find that the cognitive social theory provides them with a relevant theoretical framework for their search; they examine the contributions and limitations of approaches made so far and tackle the problem of establishing valid limits, configurations and constructions of the domain of entrepreneurship.

POTENTIAL DIRECTIONS FOR ENTREPRENEURIAL DEVELOPMENT THROUGH EDUCATION

Abstract: The European Union lives, for the past three years, a beginning of change. It was initially stated that it is a shift in the existential paradigm. Along with the financial crisis the United States exported in the whole world, primarily in Europe, a social, economic, spiritual, moral crisis is manifested... all these requiring a totally different approach to work, value, money, investment but not to man – as a social individual, with work, saving and consumption behaviors, with attitudes towards his own needs, as well as the possibilities to meet them... The sequence of crises was completed by a system crisis. In my opinion, it is totally true. A system tired, drained and depleted – according to my thinking - absolutely intentional. Of course, each system has its own life cycle, which implies that also the existing macroeconomic system shall reach in a point of inflection, only natural would have been to not cause its decline and death, but to prolong its existence as much as possible, by fundamental and structural modifications to support an innovative idea, of higher quality, viable for a medium period of time.

Abstract: The technological disruption of E-Learning offers Entrepreneurship Education (EE) an unprecedented opportunity to leverage the affordances of web 2.0 and to widen the scope of entrepreneurship educational programs. However, in practice, high dropout rates in online courses (near 90%) pose major challenges to EE researchers. In this paper, we use learning analytics to explore the case of dropout during a female-oriented online entrepreneurship educational program. We observed that the evolution of dropouts and learning behavior of the participants in this program is not linear in time. Persistence decays in a two-step process: The first dropout phase reaches approximately 30% before the middle of the program and then stabilizes around that number. A second dropout phase is triggered in the last quarter of the program and it continues declining until the end of the program. This dropout pattern corresponds to the interaction indicators at aggregated level: Before the middle of the program the level of interaction drops together with the number of active users. However, the reduction in the interaction frequency is disproportionate in relation to the fall of number of the active users. After dividing by the percentage of active users the number of interactions still drops before the middle of the program. Using social network analysis (SNA) we show that initial dropouts have a considerable effect on the connectivity of the communication network, this is consistent with the observed decrease in social interactions. We also found significant correlations between entrepreneurial competencies and indicators of learning behavior and persistence, at the individual level. In line with the relevant literature, the most significant feature associated with persistent behavior was found to be the risk-taking orientation. Our findings suppose the first step towards an empirical model of persistence in Entrepreneurship Education online programs providing valuable insights for future research and for developing retention methods in online courses.

Abstract: Sa?etak Axiological and teleological framework gives relevant answers to the philosophy of entrepreneurship on questions about the true values and its purpose. Entrepreneurship is defined too narrow as an economic process or a process of creating something out of limited resources. The base of material results, as well as active, process effects, lies in the proper definition of entrepreneurship with axiological and teleological aspects. Combining two approaches mentioned above, base for the knowledge about entrepreneurship as a universal social value which has its own goals is created. Deviant social behavior occurs in the segment of (in)correct comprehension about entrepreneurship, thinking that entrepreneurship is isolated, economic and process area that does not require deeper knowledge and far-reaching implications in all social pores. Entrepreneurship, as a social value which aims overall development and well-being, starts with the correct definition of its values and purposes. The second step is strongly correlated with the values and purposefulness - education for entrepreneurship. Social responsibility, environmental responsibility, knowledge, independence, general responsibility, identity, positive attitudes, culture and others could be named as the core values. The main objectives and the purpose is to create universal conditions for reaching these values. That should be the starting point and then with the use of network technique it is necessary to deduce the values primarily in education and gradually implementing it in all social segments, and in the end, in the economy itself. Results of that technology work reversely or inductive as well, so that positive values evolve and in such a dialectical relationship "create" a better society, a better entrepreneurship. So, in the long run this creates a positive environment based on the real, human values and without excessive entrepreneurial activities

Abstract: Entrepreneurship is an age-old concept, but the recent years have seen several varieties on the traditional entrepreneur. Take, for instance, the independent professional. The common denominator among all of these different types of entrepreneurs is their personal objectives and vision. This paper zooms in on one specific type: the social entrepreneur. This entrepreneur’s primary goal is to generate and realise solutions for social issues. The organisation run by the social entrepreneur justifies its existence by their ideas, ardour and compassion. Social entrepreneurship is often associated with young change-makers who are idealist. Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) surveys in 58 countries show that it is the case in Middle East and North Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, and Western Europe. However, it is not the case in Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, South-East Asia, Australia, and the United States of America [1]. This paper will explore the meaning of the concept of social entrepreneurship, the social entrepreneur’s characteristics, the new working formats that facilitate social entrepreneurship, the power of networking, the positioning of social entrepreneurship, and its organisational design.
